Expires 1 week 11 hours from now

Location:
Mount Olivet Lutheran Church
Fellowship Hall, directly below Main Sanctuary (there will be directional signs)
5025 Knox Ave South, Minneapolis, MN
Date/Time:
August 25, 2012 at 9:00 am - 12:30 pm (can work  1 hour or 2 hour shifts, or for full duration)

Role Responsibilities:
We need your help!!! Let us know what you are willing to help with.
There will be multiple people assisting so this workload will be shared.
We need help with serving. We will be having a buffet style serving table, where we will have two lines formed to have guests serve themselves. We will be having the reception catered, and the caterer will provide the food and drinks. Drinks will all be non-alcoholic, and there will be a punch table set up.
This role may involve setting up the punch table and buffet tables by unwrapping linens and laying them out on the table, placing linens on 70" table rounds along with a table scarf, placing clear vases with flowers in them as centerpieces. We may need help setting tables, and will need help putting table numbers on the table.
There will likely be 15 tables, no more than 90 guests (a small to medium sized wedding). There will be a go-to person if you have any questions at the event, and written instructions for you when you arrive. Also, this information can be mailed to you prior to the event if you wish; we would just need your contact info to do this.
The food served will be quiches already scored. We will need help with putting quiches in the ovens for warming (the temperature will not be very hot) and taking them out to bring them to the buffet tables. We will need a little help with directing traffic so that people know where the lines start. You may or may not be involved putting up 10 small decorations made of paper to hang from the ceiling. There will be a step ladder available if this is needed. We will need help with setting up the photobooth which will involve putting semi permanent 3m hooks on the wall (very easy, I've done it before and it's a snap) and hooking a lightweight fabric to hang down as a backdrop, also placing lightweight photobooth props in a bin, and arranging two chairs in front of the backdrop. This role will require some light lifting, maybe 5 - 10 lbs at most, and will require standing on your feet for an hour at a time; 10 min breaks will be allowed after every full hour of service.
--> --> --> You are more than welcome to take part in the festitivies as a guest and will be invited to join in the meal if you would like. Please bring your appetite. <-- <-- <-- Please report your hours after you have completed them, within 1-2 days of wedding.
Thank you kindly for taking the time to read this request.

Metallic Gold Pens for Guest Book!

I've got two metallic gold gel-like pens that are intended for the guest book. I think buying two more sb good, and then we'd be set for pens!

Skymiles

Woo hoo! I've got never-been-used-before miles that will still qualify me for a free US Continental flight for the honeymoon. We can make it happen now! Thank you Delta!

Candied orange slices

Here are some candied orange slices I found online while suffering from insomnia. Yay! We're saved! Now all we need are lemon leaves, and baby clementines.

(For the cake decoration.)

The Most Memorable Bridal Shower Ever!!

Need I say more? :)

I am unable to sleep right now, and need to get up in 5 hours. Fortunately, I have only good thoughts inside my head, about candied oranges, nice people, and harp music.

Usher, the role not the musician

eHow's take on how to be an usher

Still yet to do

1. Ask Dad if he does want a rental supplier for dessert reception, and search for one.
2. Tie, Pants, and shoes for Daniel. He's in men's!
3. Email to Nanette with contact info for Rehearsal Dinner guests.
4. Drop off Marriage Certificate and Program to Jan at the church.
5. Choose bridesmaids accessories. Finding a ton of different options. Now to finalize the decision.
6. Provide guest list to MOH and best man.
7. Purchase more pens for signature plates.
8. Create schedule for day of wedding and supply to vendors and applicable people involved.
9. Purchase or make gifts for bridal party and close family - half done!
10. Track gifts and send thank you notes - just started on this.
11. Locate babysitting options for out of town guests attending.
12. Finalize special preferences for the officiants.
13. Call guests who have not responded yet.
14. Verify with reception venue caterer will have access to site when they need it.
15. Confirm delivery locations, times, and final arrangements with your florist. Recruit someone to oversee who will get what on the wedding day.
16. Finalize seating chart.
17. Create place cards - started on this.
18. Confirm rehearsal details and wedding day schedule with your officiant.
19. Confirm all final payment amounts with the vendors.
20. Confirm location, date, and time with your photographer. Create your 'must-take' photo list.

harpist

I inquired with Elaine about rates and availability. Nothing's been set yet. It might be too pricey considering all of our other expenses.

It would be very lovely and soothing to hear such tranquil music in the midst of all the hub bub!

We'll see. (doesn't she look like a sweet person?)

Photo Booth Props arrived!

I got the photo booth props in the mail from Kitty Dune etsy, and they are adorable! I can imagine some ppl will have quite a lot of fun with them. I'm brainstorming now the different backdrops we could use. I'd like something that involves little preparation and set-up at the venue. I'm thinking a light-colored cloth would be better than a dark-colored cloth like I originally chose. There's cute ideas for sprucing up this area on Martha Stewart Weddings. Ah, so many details. So little time! lol

silly kitty

I had a single red rose in a vase with water sitting on my pub table, and my silly kitty decides to topple it over. So my ribbon and receipts get drenched. Silly indeed!

cute kitty break

this is max....he's my wonder fluffball

nice honeymoon idea

Brendan picked it out. Probably because he knows I like the coast, and I think he does, too.

Displaying the Cake Pops

Today we had a full day of cake tasting, shopping for my nephews, and picking up the Thank You cards from Target. The cards are very economical. We like that. :)

So, here's a stand on amazon that I like, that would be for displaying the cake pops. It looks easy to decorate, looks like it'd be easy to unload cake pops, and it's very affordable and one of the most popular of it's kind on amazon. So, looks like a winner!

Lovely Table Linens

We ordered these from www.tableclothsfactory.com:

Oh for dumb, dumb!

I did the dumbest thing today, (stress will do that to you)! I was with my mom and fiance, testing cake today at the Vadnais Heights Grandma's bakery - yum! Afterwards, when driving back to my parents house for lunch, there was a car behind Brendan and I, honking at us. When I looked back at the car, there were two women inside waving their arms, and making quite a commotion. Brendan and I looked at each other in wonder. Brendan says, I have my blinker on. I said, I don't think you're disobeying any traffic laws. ON they kept honking at us. Brendan was starting to get flustered. We made the left-hand turn, and he says - I'm going to pull over. He did this, and rolled down his window. The car behind us pulled alongside, and the women said frantically to us, "there's a book on your back trunk lid!". We thanked them, hopped out of B's car, and sure enough, there was the martha stewart cake book from the library that I left on the trunk lid, (forgetting to take it with me into the safety of the cab of the car). Thank goodness it's a massive, heavy book, and stayed put.

Oh for dumb, dumb! (or as my grandmother would exclaim, oh for pete's sake!) lol

New purse and shoes have arrived!

Got them in the mail last week from Macy's

Hi! I'm Emily's Mom!

Hello, my name is Nancy. I'm Emily's Mom and am helping to plan this wonderful wedding. Nancy

Family Photo Wall

Here's another idea I just love that pays tribute to our ancestors and family members that have made our special occasion a possibility. We value family very much, just like I know our parents do, too.

Family Photo Wall

Personal photographs make a reception space feel like home, and you don't need a hammer and nails to display them. Gather pictures of the bride and groom as children, plus relatives' wedding portraits; arrange on ribbons with calligraphed labels. Hang by the seating-card table for all to see.

Unique Guest Book Idea

Here's and idea for a guest book that both Brendan and I like. Also, we're hoping that multiple people being able to sign at the same time will alleviate us from a potential traffic jam!

Signature Plates

Elevate the guest book to an art form by having guests write on plates to be later mounted on your wall. Choose white dishes for the well-wishes, which show up nicely when inscribed with metallic paint pens. After the event, arrange the signed plates with patterned ones in a random grouping for a sophisticated feel. Just don't use them to serve your anniversary cake -- the paint is not food-safe.

White platter (at bottom), Crate & Barrel. Extra-fine-tip Gold Creative Marker (PILSCG-E), Pilot Pens.

Do you just love this idea? Say so in the comments section.

Thanks, Elana, for introducing me to this awesome site!

Here's my Pinterest page. Create your own.

A little break from wedding stuff

Hair and Makeup

I'm going with the Rat's Nest, not because of their name, silly, but because they're good and I trust them to know what they're doing. Plus, they were highly recommended to me.

Elana - You've been booked right after me at 8:15am. My appointment is at 7:30am. This is before the salon opens, so I think the hairdressers able to make it in at that time are limited. I could still ask if there's someone available to work at the same time as my appointment so we get ready at the same time. Just a thought.

The costs are not cheap, though. Check it out:

Bridal Hair Updo run through - $75 plus gratuity
Bridal Hair Updo, day of wedding - $75 plus gratuity
Make-up lesson - $35 plus gratuity
Brow Wax - $35 plus gratuity
Makeup - have to find out what this will cost me!

Cake tasting tomorrow. YAY!

Excited to do our cake tasting at   Grandma's Bakery  tomorrow!
